Try it for free first

Before you scope anything, boot the free drive on any machine you have. It reads your system disk not at all, writes nothing outside its own folder, and cannot break the machine. Pull it out and the machine boots exactly as it did before.

Not required — but people who skip it end up buying a claim instead of a mechanism. It takes about fifteen minutes and you get to watch the boot layer measure the program before it runs it.

Then rebuild the program yourself with scripts/foundry-attest.sh. If the number it prints matches the number your screen showed, the software is the published source and nothing else — proved without taking our word for it.

Add every machine in scope. For each one there is really only one question that matters, and everything else follows from it. A mixed set — two wiped machines plus one watcher — is normal.

Units don't learn on their own. They all declare one signed rulebook, and "they agree" is the thing that gets proved. Changing it later means re-flashing, never a remote push.
